What Loveglow stores
Loveglow keeps its data in two places, both on your own device:
- App storage. The people you've added, their birthdays, the acts of love you log, your streak, your own name and birthday, and your reminder settings are saved to your device's local app storage. This never leaves your phone.
- Media files. Any photo, video, or voice note you attach to a memory is copied into a folder Loveglow keeps for itself on your device, separate from your camera roll — so clearing your phone's cache, or deleting the original from your photo library, doesn't take your memory with it.
None of this is sent to us, because there's no "us" to send it to — Loveglow has no backend server and no analytics of any kind.
What Loveglow asks permission for
Loveglow only ever asks for a permission it's about to actually use, for a feature you can see:
- Camera & Photo Library — to attach a photo or video to a memory, or set one as a loved one's heart.
- Microphone — to record a short voice note for a memory you're logging.
- Notifications — for the daily reminder and the "someone's gone quiet" reminder, both scheduled entirely on your own device.
Declining any of these just turns off the feature it backs — the rest of the app works the same either way.
Notifications
Every reminder Loveglow sends is a local notification, scheduled directly on your device by the operating system. There is no push server and no notification token sent anywhere — Loveglow itself has no way to reach you unless the app is already on your phone.
Exporting a backup
If you use the export feature, Loveglow bundles your data and media into a single file on your device, then hands it to your phone's own share sheet. Where that file goes from there — email, cloud storage, a messaging app — is entirely your choice; Loveglow itself never transmits it anywhere.
Loveglow Plus & payments
Loveglow Plus purchases are handled by the App Store or Play Store, using RevenueCat to manage and verify your subscription or purchase. RevenueCat receives the purchase information the store itself provides (such as your anonymized purchase receipt and a device identifier) so Loveglow can recognize that you're a Plus subscriber — it does not receive any of the people, memories, or notes you've kept in the app.
Deleting your data
Removing a loved one from Loveglow deletes their memories and media from your device immediately. Uninstalling the app removes everything Loveglow stored, since none of it exists anywhere else.
Children
Loveglow isn't directed at children, and doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone — which, since nothing ever leaves your device in the first place, applies the same way regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If how Loveglow handles data ever changes, this page will change with it, and the date at the top will be updated. We won't add data collection Loveglow doesn't already tell you about here.
